What is FUE?
FUE, which stands for follicular unit extraction, is the most modern technique of hair restoration. Due to groundbreaking advances in hair transplantation procedures, this is a more advanced method of transplantation than earlier techniques such as strip harvesting transplantation or follicular unit transplantation (FUT).
How does it work?
When you have an FUE transplant, our team of highly experienced surgeons extract individual hair follicles from a donor area, usually on the back of the head, using a specially calibrated extraction instrument with a diameter of less than 1mm. These follicles are then individually transferred to the recipient area on the scalp and are implanted in groups ranging in size between one and four hairs (to follow the pattern hair grows naturally) using a powerful stereo microscope.
The procedure itself in minimally invasive and only requires a local anaesthetic rather than a general anaesthetic, which in turn means the recovery time and risk of complications are very low.

How is it different?
FUE treatments differ from other hair restoration treatments in a number of ways, the first of which is the most noticeable as FUE doesn’t leave any distinctive visible scarring or any noticeable changes (barring the renewed lease of life for your hair).
By contrast, strip transplants which are performed by removing a piece of scalp covered in hair to extract hair follicles for transplantation, often leaves very distinct lateral scarring across the back of the head.
