A tip correction rhinoplasty surgery is incredibly similar to a regular rhinoplasty surgery, however, it focuses on the tip of the nose rather than undergoing surgery to alter the bridge or the shape of the rest of the nose. This is an incredibly common request as a number of patients are actually happy with the general shape of their nose and simply want the tip to be more proportionate and refined. Generally, this is down to the tip of the nose being too bulbous and there are a number of factors that can contribute to this. The first factor is the thickness of the skin on the tip of the nose which requires the removal of a certain amount of underlying cartilage in addition to the removal of fibro-fatty tissue that has caused the bulbous appearance. The second major factor is the relationship and distance between the upper lip and the tip of the nose which can become out of proportion. It’s a common occurrence that the tip of the nose appears to look bulbous due to it drooping which could be due to an over-projected nasal hump at the bridge, but can also be down to the weight of the tissue inside the tip being too heavy to be supported at an appropriate and proportionate angle. Are there any complications associated with rhinoplasty surgery?

What are the side effects of rhinoplasty surgery?

After the surgery, you may encounter a few side-effects for a little while that include soreness, swelling and bruising (which can be very prominent around the eyes), stiffness and numbness around the tip of the nose, difficulty when breathing through your nose associated with the swelling, light nose bleeds and sensitivity to the sun so we advise wearing strong sunscreen (especially on the nose) for at least 6 months following the operation.
