Vaginal rejuvenation used to be a treatment that had a certain amount of stigma associated with it, whether it was the way that you would be seen by your peers or simply the way that it could make you feel like your body wasn’t quite right. Nowadays though, vaginal rejuvenation is something that is becoming increasingly popular among women of all ages, especially those who have given birth, as a way to make them feel more confident in their own body. As we age, the visible signs are generally what people focus on and we tend to target things such as wrinkles around the eyes and sagging skin with treatments like HIFU to keep them looking young, but it’s not just the visible areas that are subjected to the natural terrors of ageing.
Just like any area of your body, your vagina is capable of showing signs of ageing and this can happen in a way that is not too dissimilar to ageing on the face. While it’s more common that childbirth is responsible for causing noticeable vaginal laxity, the loss of collagen is actually the main culprit when it comes to prolonged problems in your most intimate area. Thankfully, vaginal rejuvenation treatments are able to help with restoring the production of collagen from the inside out and giving a renewed and youthful feel.
Collagen is one of the most abundant proteins that is found within your body and is responsible for the youthful appearance of your skin and tissues. When we age, the body naturally slows down and stops the production of collagen and this causes the body to show the signs of ageing. Thanks to countless beauty adverts we’re all well informed on how to use collagen based products to fight these signs on the face, but how you do fight them in areas which are not commonly on show?
How does vaginal rejuvenation work?
Vaginal rejuvenation utilises the HIFU system to trigger a tightening response from the inside out. Although it requires the use of a wand that is inserted into the vagina, it is considered as a minimally invasive treatment and is directly focused on the mucosal lamina and surrounding muscle tissue layer.
The ultrasound waves are set to a specific and predetermined depth to ensure that any tissue outside of this range is not damaged or affected in any way at all, and that you are able to achieve the desired level of tightening.
We tend to find that the majority of our patients see and feel a dramatic improvement to their intimate area after just one treatment, with results that continue on an upward curve over time. We even see vaginal rejuvenation patients come back in for top up treatments after a couple of months to keep up their results.
Is there any downtime or risks associated with vaginal rejuvenation?
Considering that it’s a non-surgical treatment, there is a greatly reduced level of risk with vaginal rejuvenation treatments in comparison to their surgical counterparts and none of our patients have reported issues to us. There is also zero downtime associated with vaginal rejuvenation too, which means you can go to work in the morning, have your treatment in the afternoon and even go to the gym or engage in more strenuous activities in the evening with no issues at all to the results of your treatment.
How long do vaginal rejuvenation treatment results last?
Generally, we tend to see that the results of a vaginal rejuvenation treatment last anywhere between 9-12 months but this does vary on a person to person basis. The change that is provided by the results of the treatment is completely natural and we find that women who undergo the treatment see an increase in their own self-confidence, relationship with their own body and sexual wellbeing.
