Male hair loss
Hair loss in men is an incredibly common occurance, however with men this hair loss usually has less stigma attached to it. At Better Hair Transplant Clinics, we treat all types of male hair loss, however in order to determine the most effective course of treatment on an individual basis we first need to determine the type of hair loss that you are experiencing.
Generally, male hair loss can be separated into three different categories. The first category of this is Androgenetic Alopecia, more commonly known as male pattern baldness, and is the most common form of male hair loss affecting over 90% of men who experience hair loss. Usually, this will begin with a receding hair line and will often result end in severe levels of hair loss.
Outside of this, there are two other categories which are Telogen effluvium and non-pattern hair loss. Telogen effluvium is hair loss that is usually cause by things such as diet, medication and stress. Non-pattern hair loss relates to any random hair loss that can be experiences, such as alopecia and compulsive hair pulling.
Establishing the correct diagnosis
The type of treatment available to be performed is dependent purely on the diagnosed form of hair loss and establishing this initial diagnosis on a per client basis is crucial. Each individual patient who is evaluated in one of our clinics undergoes a routine hormonal and medical evaluation to find the reason for the hair loss.
We take your hair loss incredibly seriously and performing a routine disease specific medical evaluation to help establish the reason for your hair loss. Evaluating a complete medical history is the first step when dealing with hair loss and will be carried out during the initial consultation. This will also allow us to find the category that your hair loss falls under and will help us with making the decision on which method of hair restoration surgery to use.
The final decision on the surgery is dependent on whether or not your hair loss appears to have stopped, if the hair loss has stopped then surgery can be a viable option however if the hair loss process is still ongoing then we may choose not to carry out surgery.
