Hair loss is assessed using something known as the Norwood scale. The Norwood scale is split into seven different stages and is used to measure the severity and pattern of the hair loss, stage 1 on the scale is to have no significant hair loss whereas stage 7 is the most severe stage of hair loss. By combining the Norwood scale with your medical history, we are able to determine the causes of your hair loss and the correct procedure to be used to help you effectively manage this.
Next, we will talk through the options that you have available in addition to answering any questions you may have and establishing the correct expectations for the procedure to be carried out. The second step of the hair transplant procedure is preparing for the day of your procedure at one of our specialist hair transplant clinics
All of our procedures, no matter which of our incredible clinics they are performed at, are carried out with the utmost level of care and support. The staff who will be present on the day are on hand to support you through every step of the journey, from talking you through the procedure and any last minute queries or worries you may have, to providing you with aftercare help and advice. Our surgical teams have carried out thousands of hair transplant procedures and are heavily experienced in all aspects of hair transplantation.
Every patient is treated as a VIP, from the initial consultation through to completing the aftercare and seeing your results. We recommend that any patients stay at a hotel close to the surgical clinic on the night prior to the hair transplant procedure to ensure that you’re able to arrive in a calm and relaxed state on the day of the surgery. We’re able to arrange everything for you, from the hotel stay to organising transport to the clinic on the day of the operation. We find that some of our patients opt for the hotel stay on the night following their procedure too, but this is entirely up to the patient.

Undergo a pre-surgery check and take the medication provided
During the pre-surgery checks, you’ll need to fill out a series of forms which include your consent form and a general health questionnaire. Once these are complete, you will be taken for the initial checks (such as heart rate and blood pressure) before being given medication to mitigate the risk of infection and reduce the amount of swelling. At this point, you will be ready for surgery and will be taken to a private room to change into your medical gown.
