Vaginal tightening treatments are starting to become increasingly popular over recent months, with the promise that they will improve your sex life and give you more confidence in the bedroom, but what are they actually like?
Around two years ago, Tanya Bardsley who is famous for being on the reality show Real Housewives of Cheshire tested out vaginal tightening when it was a relatively new treatment in the UK and since then the technology has improved and women everywhere are flocking for their tightening treatments.
How does it work?
The device used for vaginal rejuvenation comes with the promise that it will send your vaginal area back in time using ultrasound technology, similar to a HIFU treatment for the face or skin. Other than the obvious that the device will need to be used internally, it is non-invasive and completely non-surgical, though for the duration of you having the treatment done you will have absolutely no modesty as your aesthetician will be essentially probing your vagina with a wand-like device.
The procedure itself works by stimulating the production of collagen deep within the tissue fibres by focusing the delivery of ultrasound energy into the foundation muscle layers without cutting or even disrupting the surface layers. Thanks to that fact that ultrasound is perfectly safe and has been used for many years within other aspects of surgeries and medical appointments, it can be used with much more safety than treatment devices that use lasers and can reach further beyond the surface of the vaginal tissues to greatly intensify the effect of the treatment.
What happens during the treatment?
First things first, your aesthetician will start you off with a vaginal examination to ensure that the area in question needs the treatment and also to ensure that you are safe to go ahead. Following this, they will prepare the vaginal tightening “wand” before inserting it approximately 4 inches into the vagina. From here, this will emit ultrasound energy into the deepest layers of vaginal tissue and will be rotated 360 degrees to ensure that the entire vaginal wall is covered.
This step is repeated a number of times at different depths within the vagina to ensure that the entire vagina can benefit from the treatment, with the whole process taking on average around 30 minutes (which would even allow you to get it done during your lunch break). During the procedure, it is completely natural to feel a warm and tingly sensation as the ultrasound energy penetrates the tissues and fibres to tighten them, but other than this there is really no form of pain associated with the treatment.
Following your treatment, you are then free to go back to your day to day life and will notice an improvement to the elasticity of your vagina immediately, with major changes and improvements continuing to show for the next 4-6 weeks.
Normally, to achieve the best results, it is advised to have two or three treatments performed around 4 to 6 weeks apart with the effects of this lasting approximately 3 years.
